History of the KID Barnim

Prehistorie

Wie maybe the most Rescueservice coworkes did we , two Rescueservice coworkes of the Station in Biesenthal, a lot of frustating events when is was about to leave notdamaged exidentvictims, or family or friends of recently died persons in their pysichal emergency situation. Not only the missing time but also the helplessness for the care of the person that needs help was very important. What are you telling a person that just lost his partner ? One Keyevent that occured at the end of 1996 made us go into the topic of Acutcare:

We were alarmed with the hidword "person not responsive". We expected a reanimation. No routine, but there are fixed pattern in our mind. But the conditions were ideal, we were just on our way and were two minutes away from the place of action. At last a realistic chance to "get somebody back". When we got there, there was the helpless wife of the patient. Her husband collapsed in the kitchen and was now like we were only able to find out, dead. We started the reanimation, hand in hand. The doctor on call arrived now , but after half an hour we stoped the reanimation. Now it was his his turn to tell the wife about her husbands death. We were puting all our stuff together and were telling the rescuestation we were free for new orders, the doctor on call was called to the next place of action by his pager. We were alone with this widowed woman and all we could say was "I'm so sorry"...

Our pager also started bieping and we were very happy to get out of this uneasy situation. Later on when we were back on the station this uneasy feeling came back and we the demand to have somebody that could help this woman.

We read up on this topic in some specified literature and decided to do something.

The structuring

January 1997

Buliding up the contact to other Crisis interventionservices. First Conversations with several priests of our Rescueservice district Establishment of the joint venture for Crisis interventionservices.

Febuary 1997

Building up the concept for a Crisis interventionservice some more discusions with Chuch coworkers.

March 1997

Conversations with the German Red Cross of Bernau for a sponsoring of the Crisis interventionservice.
Different meetings with already excisting Crisis interventionservices.

April 1997

Introducing the concept in the convention of the evangelic Church of Bernau.
Starting the traing as a "psychological consulant for Crisis intervention".
Taking part on the Federal meeting of the joint venture for Soule cure in the Firedepartment and Rescueservice
The German Red Cross refuses the sponsoring because of the costs.

May 1997

First contact to several possible sponsors.
Conversations with the evangelic Church of Bernau for the sponsoring.
First Conversations with the leader of the Policedepartment of Bernau

June 1997

First group meeting of the joint venture of Crisis intervention

July 1997

The emergency cure of souls service of Berlin introduces their work in the evangelic Church of Bernau

September 1997

The joint venture of Crisis intervention consistis now of seven coworkers.
Mannesmann Mobilfunk accepts the sponsoring.
The emergency cure of souls service of Brandenburg gets introduct.

03. November 1997

The start of the Crisis interventionservices of Barnim, for the district of Netherbarnim.
First actions.

December 1997

First practical training of our coworkers in the Policedepartment and Rescueservices.
To be fair to the denomintional and non-denomintional cowokers we changed the name to
Crisis interventionservices and Emergency cure ofsouls in Barnim (KID-Barnim).

March 1998

Two days of schooling.
Conversations with the decons and Caritas for the Sponsoring.

May 1998

Indroduction in the public health authority.
Indroduction in the Policestation.

July 1998

First meeting with interested persons in Eberswalde.

September 1998

The Caritas will handle the sponsoring for the KID-Barnim for one year.
Press conference of the KID-Barnim with the Caritas, Policedepartment and Rescueservices.
All Rescuestations get two specified books for the topic of Psychologie in the Rescueservice.

05. October 1998

The start of the Crisis interventionservices and Emergency cure of souls in Barnim for the district of upper Barnim.
Now the KID-Barnim is avalible for the entire district of Barnim.
KID - Barnim takes part at the Disaster control exercise "train 98" in Chorin.

November 1998

KID - Barnim takes part at the excercie "Disaster" of the Policedepartment.

May 1999

Introduction in the Interior ministery of Brandenburg Start of the training as a Crisishelper Start of the dicussions KID Qualitymanagement.
